How It Works

The sponge filter is placed inside the aquarium and connected to an air pump through airline tubing.

As air rises through the central tube, it creates a gentle water flow through the sponge. The sponge traps suspended particles, while beneficial bacteria growing inside the sponge help support biological filtration.

How to Use

  1. Place the sponge filter inside the aquarium.

  2. Connect the filter's air inlet to a compatible air pump using airline tubing.

  3. Position the filter securely in the aquarium.

  4. Switch on the air pump.

  5. Check that air bubbles and water movement are flowing properly.

  6. Clean the sponge periodically using water removed from the aquarium during a water change.

Maintenance

  • Clean the sponge when it becomes heavily clogged.

  • Avoid washing the biological sponge with untreated tap water, as chlorine/chloramine can harm beneficial bacteria.

  • Do not use soap or household cleaning chemicals.

  • Replace the sponge only when it is physically deteriorated and no longer usable.
